I cannot believe the lack of disgust being displayed by the American public regarding Iraq. When America was slogging it out in Vietnam, there were countless demo's and daily marches ect ..now when Bush admits to his country we can expect to be in Iraq for the next 10 years there is not 1 solitary whimper...why!?...how many more men have to die on all sides before the American administration sees sense and admits defeat...this is not an attack America as such however I cannot understand why the people are allowing this carnage to continue...
Hmm, well, there are a lot of sides to this really. One thing is that American people are just tired of the constant war coverage by the media, huge protests have been organized, the American public has been very vocal about it, they were in the beginning, but people get tired of the media bombardment and need to move on with their lives. Also retreating out of Iraq now would make the invasion absolutely useless and will more likely result in an Iraq cevil war. Since this mission was undertaken and the wrong was done right in the beginning by the act of invading, the only way to make this into something resembling beneficial for Iraq now is to insure a stable government and a fairly united Iraq before withdrawing and at lesat to prevent cevil war in the region. If the American forces opted out now I think that would be the result, more or less. And, sure, 30 to 50 people may be dying every day due to the suicide bomb attacks but, in the grand scheme of things, that does not equal a defeat, more people die in car accidents every day I am sure, it's the media that highlights the tragedies and using that as an excuse to pull out is not a good thing to do. Also pulling out now will encourage terrost attacks across the world as the terrorists will see that "America was defeated by our marters who blew themselves up" and that will only intensify bombings etc against America itself and its allies. So, over-all it's a very logical self defenc strategy to see this through I believe.

Quite true. As much as many of us think the war is crap, and should never have been done, especially the way it was conducted, if we pull out now, things wil likely turn to anarchy, and not in a good way either.
gOBLIN; i TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU: i WAS WONDERING ABOUT THE SAME LATELY:
well. as far as the protests go, there about as helpfull as live aid.
Life aid is pretty helpful, isn't it? I mean - so many people were there.
yeah and none of the money actually went to africa, wich is helpfull don't ya think they were just hoping some of the leaders would take notice, as if they gave a shit!
Really? Now that is disgusting. People get fooled, go to a certain concert, think it is for people in Africa, and it isn't!!!! Bleh, personally I would be so ashamed if i were them.
Singer Iraq is already in total anarchy despite the coalition its time to bring all the troops home and leave the insurgents to it..because the longer we remain in Iraq the more we incite the hatred and anger of AL Qaeda.
Aah, yeap, let the Al Qaeda terrorist actions scare us out of Iraq, show Al Aqed that their strategy of suicie attacks, in fact, works, give them a chance to take over Iraq and a huge incentive for continuing their mission of terrorist attacks against western countries to further their cause, after all it's been proven, if we withdraw now, that that strategy works real well. Now that is a smart thing to do and certain to bring end to attacks against western targets isn't it .. if you possibly traced just a hint of sarcasm in that post you just might be right.
Of course goblin has me on ignore so he won't be able to see what I just posted but at least other people might. Sorry but the one point of us invading Iraq (us as in western countries, I certainly was strictly and passionately against it at the time, still think it was based on lies and was awful) is to try and set up an organized and peaceful society, without the U.S. and U.K. army presence while this is being established, training local police and military forces etc, this will be possible, if we leave now and leave the country to its internal cevil war we would've done what is absolutely the very worst thing that could've hapened, invade a country only to leave it in ruins and disarray, nope if you break a stack of plates in the kitchen the least you can do is to help clean up the broken pieces before you go to your friends for a movie.
